Teams participating in an event ranked by GotSoccer may be awarded ranking points. There are two types of points awarded in the rankings: Placement Points & Achievement Points.
First and foremost, we award points for placing in a ranked event. Which placements are eligible for recognition depends on the number of teams in the flight.
- Champions are eligible for points in all flights with 3 or more teams.
- Finalists are eligible for points & placement in all flights with 5 or more teams.
- Semi-Finalists are eligible for points & placement in flights with 8 or more teams and, for non-GotSoccer events, when an official semi-final match was held. For GotSoccer events, the system will award points to the semi-finalists even if there isn’t an official semi-final match. It will use either a 3rd place/consolation match, or it will award points to the 3rd & 4th place team based on the overall flight standings.
- Quarter-Finalist points are only available in GotSoccer events in flights with 16 or more teams and when an official QF match was held.
Achievement points are awarded based on the outcome of specific matches. These points are exclusively available in GotSoccer events. In order for a team to be eligible to receive these, the event must use the GotSoccer software for their scheduling.
There are two types of Achievement Points.
Basic achievement points are awarded to teams for simply defeating or drawing against another team. A team will receive 30 points for a win and 10 points for a draw.
Specialized achievement points are awarded for defeating a team who is either has 200+ more ranking points than your team or has placed in the USYS National Championship series at the State, Regional or National level. For more details on these points please see the Help Section on Achievement Points.
Again, these points are only available in GotSoccer events. We cannot award these points in events unless they used the GotSoccer software.
